Academics
To qualify for a high school diploma, a student at Needham High School must earn a minimum of 92 credits, including:
16 credits of English
12 credits of Mathematics
12 credits of Science
12 credits of Social Studies
8 credits of a Foreign Language
8 credits in Fine and Performing Arts
2 credits of Health/Physical Education for each year enrolled
In addition, the student must earn two credits in the Community Classroom Program and complete a 1 credit Senior Project, which includes both an academic research and a presentation component. Students must also pass the Massachusetts Comprehensive Assessment System tests in Language Arts, Mathematics, and Science. The Program of Studies offers a variety of courses and levels of study allowing students to meet the school's expectations for student learning. In addition, resource rooms in both regular and special education provide academic support.
