Works Cited
According to the
Purdue Online Writing Lab (OWL), each entry on the Works Cited should have the following information, including punctuation, in the following order:
- Author.
- Title of source.
- Title of container,
- Other contributors,
- Version,
- Number,
- Publisher,
- Publication date,
- Location.
In-Text Citations
Once your Works Cited is established, you will be able to select the correct information to include in the in-text citations. NoodleTools can help you with both!
- The first piece of information in the Works Cited is what you use in your in-text citation
- Place the in-text citation as close to the quote or paraphrased information as possible, usually at the end of the sentence.
- Put the in-text citation before the punctuation mark (period, question mark, etc.).
- You do not need to cite common knowledge. This choice may change depending on your audience.
